Nigerian soldiers on Sunday shot dead a banker turned rapper, Roco Nnadiekwe in Orlu, Imo State.
Soldiers, accompanied by police officers staged an early morning raid on Banana Junction and Timber Shed areas of Orlu.
Eyewitnesses said five persons were killed, including Roco who just returned from his base in Port Harcourt. Several houses including a popular hotel were also burnt by the soldiers.
The former Heritage Bank staff was shot dead in front of his family house.
A friend of his who described himself with his stage name, De Jewel told Standardobservers that Roco also known as Ja rule was like a brother brother and had been his friend since their university days in University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
He said his dreams was to be successful in life through his music.
“After our graduation Roco went to Portharcourt in search of his family’s good. He returned to music three years ago and later we recorded a song which he featured me in his 1st single called “ONYE NA WAY YA”.
“Last week Roco returned home from PH, and said he was going to shoot the video of that our song by tomorrow being Monday
“This afternoon the Nigerian army killed my homie Roco in his home town Orlu.
Roco believes in Nigeria such much but today Nigeria has failed my friend,” he said.
