Gunmen hijack bus full of students in Rivers

Gunmen on Monday shot four persons dead in two separate areas in Anambra State.

Two persons, all males were shot dead at Ozubulu junction, Ekwusigo local government area. The deceased bodies were abandoned by the roadside with one of the victims’ phone left on his chest.

In Nnewi South Local Government Area, a man identified as a youth leader in Ukpor was shot dead along Utuh-Onuzuorugu Road with his corpse abandoned in the middle of the road.

Several spent bullet shells were also found close to the corpse, indicating that he may have been shot several times.

It was also gathered that his older brother was shot dead by the gunmen in their home by the rampaging gunmen.

Despite the quest by Governor Chukwuma Soludo to end the sit-at-home, gunmen have continued to attack and maim residents who dared to venture out.

The sit-at-home was ordered by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB to press for the release of its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

The group later cancelled the sit-at-home following complaints by residents of the region and killing of violators by gunmen.

The group has also denied culpability in the killings and enforcement.
