A seven months old baby has died from a bullet wound to the head after hit while asleep by a bullet from an unknown source.
The baby, his parent’s only child after years of childlessness, was confirmed dead at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital.
He was hit by the bullet which pierced through the ceiling while he sleeping at about 10 am on Monday morning at the Elimgbu area of Port Harcourt, the father said.
According to the distraught father, they had earlier rushed the baby to a nearby private hospital, from where they were referred to UPTH.
He said his wife made emergency travel, adding that he does not know how to inform her about the development as she might die from shock.

A medic, at the Accident and Emergency ward of the hospital who also confirmed, said the baby lost so much blood before he was brought to the hospital.
He said they also found it difficult to locate veins in his body for injection and drips.
It was gathered that the family had been childless for over eight years before the deceased baby was born seven months ago.
