Ahmed Lawan, the President of the Senate has promised that the Senate would investigate the abandoned Ikot Ekpene — Aba road project to ascertain why the contractors abandoned the project.
Speaking on Tuesday while inaugurating the 25-kilometre Uyo — Ikot Ekpene Road done by the state government, he commended the Akwa Ibom state governor, Udom Emmanuel for the infrastructural development in the state.
He said, “Although this is a federal road, however, because you want the development of the people of Ikot Ekpene particularly and Akwa Ibom in general, you put in the resources of the state government to do the road.
I will join you in talking to the Federal Minister for Works and Housing to present a request for a refund for this road.
“You said that this road should extend to the road that leads to Aba which the Federal Government has awarded. The present administration has done more than the previous administrations in infrastructural development, so we will push the road up to Aba; we will find out what happened, why the contractor abandoned the project.”
