Security agents' failure to pin responsibility for politically motivated killings in S'East, tragic - Moghalu

Kingsley Moghalu, a former presidential candidate of the Young Progressives Party has questioned the inability of security agents to properly investigate the politically motivated killings in the South East.

He said it was evident of state failure when culprits were not fully held accountable for the loss of lives.

Moghalu’s statement comes after soldiers intercepted 73 men and their motorcycles in Benue while headed to Imo State.

he said: “It’s deeply tragic that, beyond convenient narratives, Nigerian security authorities have failed to provide clear results of investigations that pin responsibility for the politically motivated killings in Southeast Nigeria.

“This is evidence of state failure when culprits are not fully held accountable for the loss of Nigerian lives anywhere in the country. The SE situation appears complex, with more than meets the eye.

“@GovtOfImoState said 70% of persons arrested for violence in the state were from outside the SE region.

“The 73 men arrested by the 72 Special Forces Brigade in Makurdi on their way to Imo State, with home addresses in Nasarawa State, with 47 motorcycles on board five trucks and who were trying to evade arrest, what is the real mission? There are many questions, and we need answers!”
