Protest in Imo Community as Ebubeagu kills siblings, 12 other wedding guests

Protest rocked Awo Mmamma community in in Oru East Local Government Area of Imo following the killing of 14 wedding guests by the Ebubeagu Security Network.

The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon in the restive community as the vigilante group opened fire on the wedding guests.

It was gathered that the Ebubeagu Security Network was commanded by Ogwu Mozambique of Amuri.

Among the killed were two siblings from Otulu in Orlu East identified as Chido Ekesinachi and Nnamdi Ekesinachi. Others were from Mgbidi in Oru West Local Government Area.

Information on the killing is still sketchy as of the time of filing this report. The Imo State Police Command spokesman did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

But videos of the incident which had since gone viral on social media showed the murdered youths being wheeled in barrows to the mortuary.

A resident of the area, Ozoede Linus said the Ebubeagu Security Network has consistently attacked and killed innocent people in the guise of fighting unknown gunmen.

Ozoede, however, said that the activities of the unknown gunmen was still visible in the community but added that the Ebubeagu Security Network seldomly go after them while attacking innocent people.

A resident of Otulu, Nnamdi Agbor said seven of the victims were from the community. He said that a member of the community went to Awo Mmamma to marry but the guests were attacked by Ebubeagu Security Network.
