police inspector attached to Isiala Mbano divisional headquarters in Imo state has lost his life following an attack at the station by yet to be identified gun men.

A statement by the Command’s Public Relations officer SP. Orlando Ikeokwu says hoodlums stormed the divisional headquarters and started shooting sporadically.

According to him, officers on duty successfully repelled the attackers noting that no arm was removed by the hoodlums.

Mr. Ikeokwu however explained that a police officer who was on duty was hit by bullet and later died while receiving treatment at a hospital.

He said the Commissioner of police in charge of the Command Mr. Nasiru Mohammed who visited the division regretted that some office windows and doors in the station were destroyed as a result of the incident.

Mr. Ikeokwu stressed that the Commissioner of police encouraged officers not to be deterred by incessant attacks on them in recent times but should brace for the challenge.

He warned those responsible for the attacks to desists or be prepared to face the law.

Recall that a divisional police headquarters located at Aboh mbaise local government area of the state was set ablaze by hoodlums about three weeks ago when the force was yet to recover from a similar incident at Obowo local government area of Imo state
