The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, has switched her support from the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi.
The PDP chieftain during a stakeholders’ meeting made up of men and women leaders at the Agulu town hall on Sunday, urged her supporters to vote for Obi, describing the former governor as her mentor whom she would not work against.
Ekwunife, who is running to return to the Senate was seen in a video that has gone viral on social media saying in Igbo: “Vote for me in PDP. In the presidential election, we all know where we will vote. We are politicians, and we see this game very well. It’s at our fingertips. Peter Obi is our son and my mentor; we can’t work against him.
“But I’m asking you to vote for me in PDP. At the presidential level, we all know who is our preferred candidate. That one is not in dispute. It’s settled,” she said.
