Two Senatorial candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Anambra on Thursday boycotted the presidential campaign rally of the party held at the Alex Ekwueme’s square in Awka.

Chris Uba, the party’s Senatorial candidate for Anambra South and Stella Odua, the Senatorial candidate for Anambra North together with the state assembly candidates from the two Senatorial zones boycotted the rally.

A stakeholder in the party who spoke on the conditions of anonymity said the candidates do not believe in Atiku Abubakar’s candidacy, reason for the boycott.

He said the two Senatorial candidates are loyalists of Integrity Group led by Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

He said: “All the candidates of the State House of Assembly, Federal house to Representatives and Senate from Anambra South and North Senatorial Districts have dissociated themselves from the Peoples Democratic Party’s official flag-off of its presidential campaign in Awka today.

“Key party stakeholders and Party Executives at all levels from the 14 LGAs making up the two Senatorial Districts comprising who is who, in the politics of Anambra State were absent in the rally.

“They are loyalists of the Integrity Group led by Governor Nyesom Wike. There is no PDP in Anambra without Chris Uba whose loyalists control the structures of the 14 LGAs.

“The rally today was championed by Senator Uche Ekwunife, Obiora Okonkwo and other PDP Chieftains from Anambra central. More than 50 percent of the crowd at the rally came from Asaba. It is that bad”
