Ginger Owusibe, the Labour Party’s House of Representatives candidate for Isiala Ngwa North and South federal constituency says chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Abia State are plotting to assassinate leading opposition figures in the state.
Owusibe said the PDP is working to flood the strongholds of Abu Dhabi, YPP House of Representatives Candidate for Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo Constituency, with ex-militants to instigate fear into people who would have come out to cast their votes for him.
He also alleged that the ruling party in the state is using the police with the assistance of compromised DPOs and heads of some special teams to unleash mayhem and terror on the known strongholds of the opposition parties during the 25th February 2023 elections with the purpose of disrupting the elections.
He said: “This is to inform the general public, especially the relevant security agencies that the desperation of the PDP-led government is about plunging Abia State into an avoidable but heinous conflagration.
“Typical of all dying and retrogressive regimes, the Abia State Government, in the futile attempt of wading off the ignominious defeat staring her in the face, has resorted to perverting and corrupting the state apparatus of life protection to an apparatus of life elimination in connivance with some security agents.
“As a matter of specifics, a serving commissioner who doubles as the de facto Governor by the reason of our commonwealth that he has appropriated to himself, and a Governorship Candidate and Federal House of Representatives Candidate met in Ntigha, Isiala Ngwa North two nights ago.
“After analysing the unveiling power calculus which tilts against them, they hatched an evil plot of using the coercive apparatus of the state to intimidate, incarcerate for no reason and with no traces, possibly maim and kill leading opposition figures and their staunch supporters.
“To give their evil plot an executive imprimatur, they met with Gov. Ikpeazu last night in the company of some compromised heads of security agencies. At the meeting they resolved as follows:
“1. To use the police with the assistance of compromised DPOs and heads of some special teams to unleash mayhem and terror on the known strongholds of the opposition parties during the 25th February 2023 elections with the purpose of disrupting the elections.
“2. To storm the houses and residences of known staunch supporters of Labour Party Candidates in Isiala Ngwa North and South on Thursday night, arrest and whisk them away to unknown destinations till after the elections.
“3. To flood the strongholds of Abu Dhabi, YPP House of Representatives Candidate for Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo Constituency, with ex-militants to instigate fear into people who would have come out to cast their votes for him. These hoodlums who were quartered in Onitsha Ngwa last have started being ferried into various designated parts of
Obingwa under the protection of the state government.
“4. To arrest known staunch supporters of the opposition parties, especially LP at such places as local bars, brothels, restaurants, eateries etc on trumped-up charges, and keep them out of circulation till after the elections.
“To actualize this satanic but impossible mission, Gov. Ikpeazu has directed the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to release funds to the Commissioner for Homeland Security for the mobilization of compromised officers. These two officials have started implementing the directive of the governor this afternoon.
“However, we are not deterred. We are not cowed. We cannot be intimidated. We prefer dying while standing on our legs to living on bent knees.
“While I am calling on the Ikpeazu government to re-discover the path of sanity, I call on all opposition forces to close ranks to vote out these common criminals even as we remain vigilant and law-abiding”
