The All Progressives Congress, APC in Abia State has claimed the state governor, Alex Otti did not resign from the party.

This follows a testimony in the suit filed by the party’s gubernatorial candidate in the just concluded 2023 election, Dr Ikechi Emenike.

Emenike in the suit is challenging the emergence of Governor Otti as governor.

The All Progressive Congress (APC) chairman in Ward 5, Isialangwa South LGA of Abia State, Friday Ugorji, alleged that Dr Alex Otti did not resign his membership in APC.

The said Friday Ugorji was one of the witnesses Chief Ikechi Emenike hired at the governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Umuahia, Abia State.

He testified that Otti is and still is a member of APC, with his name as No one on the APC ward registers submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before the 2023 election. He further stated that Dr Otti did not resign his membership of APC before joining Labour Party.

Recall that Dr Ikechi Emenike contested under APC and came 4th.

This development has caused mixed reactions and divergent opinions by political analysts and supporters of Governor Otti in the state as to what transpired in Imo State, where the incumbent Governor, Hope Uzodimma, who came 4th, became Governor after the Supreme Court overturned the election of Emeka Ihedioha.
