Mr Peter Obi, Labour Party’s presidential candidate has condemned the assassination of Christopher Eleghu, the Party’s Candidate for Onuimo State Constituency of Imo State in the March 2023 election.

Eleghu was killed on Thursday night at his home by unknown gunmen.

Neighbours said Eleghu, aka WASCO, also had his house and cars burnt by the attackers.

His killing follows the killing of Mrs Victoria Chimtex, the Labour Party’s women leader in Karu, Kaduna state.

A woman of the leader of the party was abducted in Edo last week while the restaurant owned by another women leader in Kebbi was also set ablaze.

In a statement on Friday, Obi charged security agents to unravel the mystery behind Eleghu’s assassination.

He said: “I am deeply disturbed by the evidently targeted killing of the Labour Party State House of Assembly Candidate for Onuimo LGA in Imo state, Hon. Christopher Eleghu at his home. His house and cars were reportedly set ablaze.

“I condemn these heinous acts in the strongest possible terms. Such acts violate our spirit of security, civility and the recently signed Peace Accord. Federal and State security agencies must work assiduously to uncover those behind this killing”
