The 2021/2022 season of the Nigerian Professional Football League ended on Sunday with Kano Pillars and MFM FC relegated.

Rivers United last weekend won the title with a game to spare in 20-team League. They qualify for the 2022/2023 CAF Champions League alongside second-placed Plateau United.

In a shocking development, four traditionally strong clubsides- Katsina United, Heartland FC, Kano Pillars and MFM FC- are all relegated to the lower league..

Kano Pillars had six points deducted from them for disciplinary issues.
