President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday announced the appointment of new service chiefs, including Major General Ibrahim Attahiru who was fired as the commander of operation Lafia Doyle as the new chief of army staff.
Attahiru was appointed as the commander of the troops combatting Boko Haram insurgency in May 2017 but by December, he was removed for incompetence in checkmating the activities of the terror group.
His predecessor, Gen Tukur Buratai gave him a deadline in July to deliver Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau dead or alive within 40 days.
