My father served in Biafran Army, Wike very ignorant - Asari Dokubo

An ex-Niger Delta agitator, Asari Dokubo has said his father served in the Biafran Army as a medic, calling his Kalabari people to join the Biafran struggle for a better future.

He also said that the fear of domination by the Igbo is a lie, adding that Biafra is not just about the Igbo as it was an Ijaw man who chose the name Biafra for the defunct country.

Dokubo, who was made of the Biafra Defacto Customary Government two weeks ago, said the only hope for his people is Biafra.

Speaking a lengthy video posted on his Facebook page titled “You are Biafra”, Dokubo said he had fought and defended Kalabari territory all his life with his money and also made so many Kalabari people billionaires with hopes that they will extend the same hands to others.

“Fellow Biafrans, my address today will be directed to my people, the Kalabari people, the Ijaw people and my maternal home, the Ikwerre people.

“I want to state facts and separate the facts from falsehood. Those people who are telling us that they are not Biafrans, that they are not from the Eastern region, was there an Eastern region from 1960 to 1967?

“In 1966, several events took place, including meetings in Aburi, Addis Ababa and other places. In 1967, after due consultations, Biafra was suggested by Frank Opigo, an Ijaw man who later became the administrator of Yenagoa province.

“His majesty, King Fredrick Tom Princewill was co-chairman of the Eastern Leaders Consultative Assembly that gave birth to Biafra.

“On the 29th of May, at the declaration of independence of the state of Biafra, it was Cardinal Rex Jim Lawson and his band that played the Biafran National Anthem for the first time, an Ijaw man, a Kalabari man from Buguma”

He wondered what his people who say they’re not Biafrans are. He further said that an Okrika man, N.S Dikigbo was the administrator of Degema Province while the brother of Ben Bruce was the chief of air staff of Biafra.

“They said during the war, Bakana was evacuated. So also Iyalla was evacuated, so also Awka was evacuated, so also Umuahia was evacuated and several other communities in Igbo land were evacuated.

“This is a military strategy from ancient times. It was applied by the soviet, the french, Italians and others. It happened in Korea and China. Instead of giving comfort to the enemy, you evacuate the population. It was not limited to Abonnema, it was not limited to Bakana sad as it is.

“They said our people were killed who were called saboteurs. Ifeajuna who was Igbo was also killed. Banjo was also killed. Even in Nigeria, people were court-martialled and killed. Isaac Boro was killed by the Nigerian troops at Okrika.

“People volunteered to join the Biafra army. My father also served in it as a medic. So if the greatest number of people who served in the army were Igbos, then there is nothing we can do about it. You did not serve because you were cowardly and hiding under your mother’s bed.

“People say Biafra is Igbo. How can Biafra be Igbo? The bight of Biafra is not inside Igbo Land. It is on the coast. It starts from River Nun to Carbon. Half of the Ijaw territory falls on the coast. How can Biafra be Igbo?

“When I see Wike and others talking, I just laugh. This is ignorance of the highest order.

“People that are opposed to Biafra more are from the western zone of the Ijaw nation. They were added to Oduduwa in a Yoruba country map being produced. They are inside it and they are not talking. They never talked. Who are they deceiving? They want us to be floating while they follow Yoruba people, enter under their name and submerge under them, forget about your Ijaw origin and start speaking Yoruba. So that you will be with Lagos and we will still continue suffering under the shackles of the occupation of the Funta Jalon Gambaris? It is not going to work.

“In Rivers State, Kalabari people have become foot mats. The people that do not have anything are holding us by the neck. Biafra is our only hope”
