LP assembly member takes up voluntary teaching appointment

The member representing Awka South Constituency 1 in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Henry Mbachu, has taken up a Voluntary teaching appointment in his alma mater.

Hon. Mbachu passed out of Igwebuike Grammar School Awka before pursuing higher education after which he went back to teach Physics.

He contested and won election on the platform of Labour Party(LP).

After inauguration as a member of the House, Mbachu wrote a letter to the Commissioner of Education volunteering to teach physics in the school, according to him, having taught as a Physics Teacher there at the beginning of his career.

The Commissioner for Education who was pleased with the determination of Hon. Mbachu to teach school children, and his quest for academic excellence assented to the request and gave approval on July 13, 2023.

As he assumed duty, Hon. Mbachu charged the students on the need to remain steadfast in their academics, while informing them in retrospect that he was an ex-student of the school and later transcended to being a teacher in the same school.

He said: “I was an ex-student of this great citadel of learning. I also started my career as a teacher in this school. The foundation of the educational qualities I possess in this life was laid here. I achieved it through dedication and steadfastness,” he added.

Meanwhile, the management of the school, as well as the students have expressed joy as they to receive their new teacher who volunteered to impact knowledge.

On the first day of his teaching job, he also attended to the House sitting which came later.
