Lightening has struck two persons to death in the Ndegwu community in Owerri west Local Government Area of Imo State.
The two victims were identified as Emeka Mbah from Umuejekubi and Chigbo Odionye from Umuadi Umuogwuta.
A source from the community said both victims and others were busy working at a new site in the community when the incident occurred, Daily Sun reports.
The lightning was said to have struck the two of them and two others working at the sight but the other two were said to be lucky as they narrowly escaped being struck down.
While the victims were taken to a nearby hospital by youths of the community, the other two managed to get up and returned to their homes with little bruises.
A reliable source from the community told our correspondent that a white ram was earlier noticed moving around the community which they said was a bad omen.
“We saw a white ram moving up and down, this is not a good omen at all, it did not take long before the thunder [sic] struck and killed the two youths.
“Nobody expected the light thunder to kill them, the rain was not much and the thunder was not heavy, we are still wondering what really happened, it’s the first time such will happen.”
Wives of the two victims have expressed sadness towards the development, one of them who is still nursing a six old month baby has remained devasted still the incident occurred.
Another case was said to have been recorded at Umuoba, Orogwe same day when the lightning struck an automobile electrician simply known as Edi. He has since been buried according to the source.
