One of the lawyers representing the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, says he has sent legal documents to the Directorate of State of the group in defence of some of its members arrested by Ghanaian police.

Aloy Ejimakor said in a tweet on his Twitter account that the action was taken to prevent the arrested Biafra agitators from being sent to Nigeria.

It was gathered that Ghanaian policemen stormed a venue of IPOB’s monthly meeting around Mallam Junction in Accra on Sunday, and arrested an undisclosed number of the group’s members.

In a video obtained by SaharaReporters, the arrested members were seen singing a pro-Biafra solidarity song.

They were subsequently taken to a police station in Accra where they were profiled.

Ejimakor in reaction said the move was to also swiftly secure their freedom.

He said: “Update on #IPOB Ghana: Few days ago, I sent to the DOS (via @chinasaNworu) certain legal documents critical to the defence of the faithful currently distressed in Ghana. The goal is to quickly secure their freedom and prevent their ‘rendition to injustice’ in Nigeria”
