Operatives of the disbanded vigilante group, OSPAC in Elele-Alimini, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State have killed one Mr Christian Chukwu aka Maja over a disagreement.

Mr Chukwu, until his death, was the Vice-Chairman of the Elele-Alimini Community Development Committee.

It was gathered that the former OSPAC operatives attacked Mr Chukwu, resulting in his death following a misunderstanding he had with an operative of the disbanded vigilante group on Saturday.

Community sources said the former OSPAC operative mobilised other former colleagues who descended on Mr Chukwu. He was later admitted to a private hospital and died on Sunday evening.

A source who pleaded anonymity said: “The news of his death prompted angry family members to take the body of Mr Chukwu to OSPAC office in protest.

“They left the dead body in OSPAC office and went to their family to inform other family members. OSPAC on sensing danger, took the deceased and drove off in their car.

“As at this evening the whereabout of the body of the deceased is still unknown with no OSPAC member in sight .

“The prompted angry youths to destroy OSPAC office in Elele Alimini,” he said.

It was also gathered that one of the former OSPAC operative was apprehended and lynched by the angry mob.

Nnamdi Omoni, the Rivers police spokesman told Standardobservers that anti-riot officers were deployed to the community.

He added that normalcy had been restored while police have launched a manhunt for the disbanded OSPAC operatives.
