Unknown Gunmen on Friday shot and killed Eze Edwin Azuike, the traditional ruler of Ebeteghete community in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State.

His killing comes a day after he was was abducted from his palace and taken to an unknown destination.

Circulating pictures showed the monarch’s lifeless body in a car with a gunshot injury to the head.

The state Police public relations officer Michael Abattam confirmed the incident said the traditional ruler was abducted and later found dead in a car.

He added that the command is investigating the matter.

Standard Observers on Thursday reported the abduction of another traditional ruler in Mbutu Kingdom in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of the state, Eze Damian Nwaigwe.

The hoodlums who invaded his Palace at about 2:30am took him to an undisclosed location and he is yet to be found.
