Anambra Assembly wants security beefed-up over rising crime and criminality

As the world marks the International Woman’s Day today, the Speaker, Anambra State Assembly, Uche Okafor has called for total elimination of all forms of discrimination and obnoxious laws against women.

Okafor urged various legislative institutions in the country to accord women their rightful position with maximum security through legislations.

In his goodwill message to women, the, Speaker extolled the contributions of some notable women to the growth and development of the country and urged upcoming ones to comport themselves in order to become virtuous women.

Okafor, who used the occasion to advocate total elimination of all forms of discrimination and harmful practices against women, enjoined them to form co-operatives to assist one another.

He commended the wife of the governor, Dr. Ebelechukwu Obiano for using her pet project, “Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, CAFE to uplift the living standard of women in the state, expressing hope that the wife of the incoming governor, Nonye Soludo will sustain the tempo.

Okafor appealed to government at different levels to give women a chance to excel in politics by appointing them to key positions of authority.
