Imo acting CJ orders relocation of high court over insecurity

Justice Ijeoma Oguguo, the acting Chief Judge of Imo State, has ordered the relocation of Etiti High Court over rising insecurity in the state.

This follows the burning of the High Court and a Magistrate Court by angry youths of Ishinweke in the Ihitte/ Uboma Local Government Area weeks ago.

Also burnt during the crisis was the local police station in the area, the local government headquarters and other government institutions in the area.

The order for the immediate relocation of the vandalised high court to Owerri, the state capital, was contained in a memo issued on her behalf by the Chief Registrar of the state, C.N Okereke.

The memo read, “I am directed by the acting Chief Judge of Imo to inform you that the Etiti High Court has been temporarily moved to premises of Owerri High Court.

“This is as a result of the fire incident and safety of judicial workers and others.”
