Exactly one month after she was arrested, Ovaioza Umu Yinusa, the founder of Ovaioza Farm Produce Storage Business (OFPSB) is still in police custody.
Her husband, Oseme David who was earlier granted bail has reportedly deserted the embattled wife.
Recall that Yunusa was arrested on April 18 by the Lugbe division of the Abuja Police Command.
Yinusa was arrested together with her husband, David and her mother.
The police also took her to her house to get some documents relating to the failed investment scheme.
Her arrest followed petitions by aggrieved investors who lost hundreds of millions in the scheme.
She had claimed that the Security and Exchange Commission, SEC froze the company’s accounts for running an illegal financial investment scheme following a petition by a lawyer, Azubuike Ihemeje.
Yinusa also claimed after the company’s accounts restrictions that she was not owing any of her investors. Several persons who made deposits into the business disputed her claims. She subsequently deactivated her verified Facebook page and went incommunicado.
She was detained at the Lugbe Police division but the news of her arrest saw hundreds of aggrieved investors converge at the division.
The investors were seen screening “thief”, “criminal” at the embattled OFPSB founder.
Fearing that they might mob her, the police moved her to the command headquarters for safety.
The matter was subsequently transferred to the SCID of the command.
