The Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra state sector command, has revealed how a Mark Trailer had a fatal crash at the entrance of the FRSC Ihiala station leaving the driver dead in the crash.
According to a report by the Corps, the ill-fated heavy duty vehicle suffered a break failure and lost control but on seeing the traffic jam in front caused by police checkpoint in the area, the trailer driver swapped into the bush and met his catastrophic end.
Meanwhile, the sector commander, Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi sympathised with the family of the dead accident victim, saying that life is sacred and it is important for motorists to drive to stay alive for their loved ones.
The first information report on the fatal crash at Ihiala as compiled by the Ag. Sector Public Education Officer DRC Margaret Onabe reads, ” A fatal Crash occurred at the entrance to FRSC Command Ihiala by Ihiala-Onitsha Express way on 4th November, 2021 at about 15:50hours.
“The crash involved one vehicle. A Mark Trailer Commercial, with no registration number. The cause of the fatal crash was attributed to brake failure.”
According to an eye witness report, when the brake of the vehicle failed, the driver sighting hold up in front because of a police checkpoint, turned the articulated vehicle to the bush, jumped out but was unfortunately crushed by the vehicle he was driving.
“Two male adults were involved in the crash. One was killed. As at the time of filling this report, the victim was rushed to Our Lady’s hospital Ihiala and was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.”
His corpse was deposited at the hospital morgue by FRSC rescue team. FRSC personnel on ground managed traffic and ensured obstruction caused was cleared.
The sector commander therefore urged the motoring public to ensure their vehicles are in good condition before plying the road. ”
