Hoodlums attack police station in Aba, kill two police officers

Hoodlums in the early hours of Tuesday, attacked the Abayi police station in Aba, Abia State, burning down the station and killing two police officers.

Also burnt during the attack were all the operational vehicles parked on the premises of the police station.

The Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, Geoffrey Ogbonna, told newsmen that the hoodlums numbering over one hundred attacked the police station from a nearby compound with the intention of taking over it.

He said that the attackers threw petrol bombs into the station before gaining entrance into the facility and freed some suspects in custody.

He added that some of the attackers had been arrested, while a manhunt has also been launched for those at large.
