Unknown gunmen have killed no less than nineteen persons in Igbariam Community in Oyi local government area of Anambra State.
It was gathered that the assailants invaded the house occupied by some Fulani herders and their families and slaughtered twelve women, five men and two children.
According to a source in the area, the gunmen carried out the dastardly act at about 2 am on Monday morning.
The victims were brought out of their homes, stripped naked, their hands bound before they were slaughtered.
It was also gathered that some of the victims’ private parts were severed during the attack and taken away.
The incident caused panic in the area, forcing students of Odumegu Ojukwu University living in the area to vacate their homes.
When contacted, Ikenga Tochi, the public relations officer of the Anambra Police Command did not immediately respond to requests for comment at the time of filing this report.
