Unknown gunmen on Friday night attacked a police station in Rumuji Community, Emohua Local government area of Rivers state, beheading one of the officers and setting a patrol vehicle on fire.
The attack came despite the night-time curfew imposed on the 23 local government areas of the state by Governor Nyesom Wike.
It is the second time gunmen are attacking police security formations in Rivers State since the trend began.
The attack which occurred at about 11.30pm sparked fears in the surrounding communities as rapid gunfire rented the air.
