Gunmen on Friday night attacked the Agwa Divisional Police Headquarters in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, kill four police officers.
The criminals also burnt part of the division and vehicles, including the one belonging to the Divisional Police Officer.
Gunmen also invaded the house of a resident identified only as Ejike and shot him dead while his wife also sustained gunshots.
It was not immediately clear if the two shootings were carried out by the same gunmen.
The development has caused panic in the area as natives and residents expressed shock.
It was gathered that the gunmen who attacked the police station invaded the area with Tipper truck and two Sienna minivans.
Residents said the hoodlums attacked the area around 11pm and shot for hours. The shooting caused panic in the area.
When contacted, Mike Abattam, the public relations officer of the command said he had not been briefed on the incident, promising to get back to our correspondent when he gets more information on the attack.
