Imo Democracy Advocates, a non partisan political advocacy group has called on the police to arrest the Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District in the national assembly, Rochas Okorocha; his in-law, Uche Nwosu and Okorocha’s political associate, Kingsley Uju over the murder of a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ahmed Gulak.
Gulak was shot dead on Sunday morning on his way to the Sam Mbakwe airport for a flight to Abuja.
The group which condemned the gruesome murder of Gulak said it was convinced that the man was murdered for political reasons.
According a statement signed by John Chike Igwe, its National Secretary and Sir Teddy Nzenwa, its National Publicity Secretary, they urged the police to “immediately arrest Senator Rochas Okorocha, Chief Uche Nwosu and their Chief Executioner Hon Kingsley Uju who still controls their murderous gang of terrorists based in his native Egbema community whose members were granted amnesty by Okorocha as then Governor of the State”.
The statement read in part: “It must be recalled that a few days ago security agents bursted a base of these terrorists at Assah Egbema, killed two of them while many others escaped with their ammunitions.
“It must also be recalled that Okorocha met late Ahmed Gulak two weeks ago in Abuja and threatened him that he will never forgive him for the role Gulak played in the last Imo APC Governoship Primaries that returned Hope Uzodinma as Governorship Candidate instead of his son in law Uche Nwosu.
“Okorocha claimed that if Gulak had not helped Uzodinma he would not have become Governor of Imo state and be recovering his family properties acquired during his tenure as governor in the guise of implementing a Gazette.
“It was the same Okorocha who told both the Senate President and Senator Orji Uzor Kalu to postpone the Senate public hearing on amendment of the Constitution for South East scheduled for Owerri as he could not guarantee the peace of the visitors in Owerri as if Okorocha is the Governor of Imo State.
“It was the same Okorocha that said he paid 500 million naira to terrorists during his tenure to maintain peace and Governor Hope Uzodinma is unwilling to settle the boys hence the attacks.
“We are convinced that killing Gulak is aimed at revenging the political loss he caused Okorocha and his family succession plot.
“It is also aimed at causing disaffection between the North and East, so that Governor Uzodinma will be seen in bad light by the national Government and Party Leadership.
“It is only when this men are arrested for questioning that the terrorism in the state will be fully abated”.
