The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA gubernatorial candidate in Enugu State has condemned the attack on his Ebonyi counterpart, Professor Bernard Odoh by operatives of Ebubeagu vigilante group.

Odoh’s convoy was attacked on Wednesday night leading to the death of his driver and one other.

Five other persons have been missing since the attack.

Nweke also charged security operatives to fish out the perpetrators of the attack.

He said “I completely condemn the attack on Professor Ben Odoh’s convoy that led to the death of his driver and the disappearance of five persons. My heart goes out to the entire team, the bereaved family and the families of the missing persons. May the Lord comfort you at this time and I pray that those missing are speedily found alive.

“I charge the security operatives to do all that is possible to fish out the perpetrators and ensure that they are duly punished. I am reliably informed that this is the sixth attack on Professor Odoh’s campaign. This is dangerous and unacceptable. We must deter more violent actions for the remaining part of this election season. Our people deserve better than a mandate tainted with blood.

“To the initiators of these dastardly acts, I reiterate that no ambition is worth the life of any human being. We have a legal system for seeking redress and a democratic process that gives every contender equal opportunity to persuade the public of their candidacy. We must desist from barbaric actions as a way of obtaining power and political positions.

“We must remain committed to an issues-based campaign. I consider this a form of respect to our electorates who are currently confronted with challenges that are too serious to be sidelined or compounded by propaganda, calumny and violence”.
