The International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA Rivers State, has foiled an attempt to sell twin babies at Ndoki Estate, in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of the state, by one Prophetess Princess Mark Udo of Deliverance Fire Ministry.

The attempt was foiled following the swift intervention by FIDA Rivers through a complaint made by the nursing mother of the babies, that Prophetess Princess Mark, owner of the Church where she was delivered of the twins refused her access to her children.

The Chairperson of FIDA Rivers, Adata Bio-Briggs, who spoke to our correspondent on the incident, said the mother of the twins, Rhoda Rufus came to their office and complained that she is being denied access to her babies after delivery.

“The babies’ mother told us she gave birth in a church and for the past twenty-four hours after delivery, she is yet to get access to the children to breastfeed them. She said the father of the children have agreed with the Prophetess to take the babies to Bayelsa state, where the children will be sold.

“If FIDA Rivers did not quickly intervene, we would have heard the twin babies were dead, a trick and lie that would have been used to cover up their evil act.

She, however, advised pregnant women to be careful of where they go for anti-natal and delivery, urging them to go to government-approved maternity homes and health centres.

Bio-Briggs said FIDA Rivers is ready to assist and fight against child trafficking in any form.

On her part, the young nursing mother, Miss Rhoda Rufus, who initially reported to FIDA on the planned sale of her twin babies was accused by the Prophetess of being the one planning to sell the twins.

In an interview with our correspondent, Miss Rufus denied being part of the plan to sell the children for one million naira, while accusing the church leader including the father of the babies of conniving to sell the twins.

She narrated that she was beaten up by the Prophetess for insisting on seeing her twin babies to breastfeed them.

Also, the father of the twin babies, Mathew Oyedefe claimed there was no time the Church planned to sell or traffic the babies.

In the meantime, the Prophetess of the Church Deliverance Fire Ministry, Princess Mark Udo also denied being part of the plan to traffic the twin babies.
