The Department of State Service, DSS has summoned Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi over his claims that security agencies are protecting bandits.
Recall that Gumi made the claims when he appeared as guest on Arise TV on Wednesday.
He accused officers of the Nigerian army of collaborating with the bandits and terrorists.
Spokesperson of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Onyeama Nwachukwu, had in a statement debunked the allegations made by Gumi.
Nwachukwu said that Gumi’s allegations were a deliberate attempt to smear the soldiers regardless of how they sold their lives for the security in Nigeria.
General Nwachukwu said the soldiers were the ones who risked their lives to rescue students of the Yauri Federal Government College who were recently abducted by gunmen.
But Gumi, himself a former Army captain dismissed the allegations made against him by the military m, with his spokesperson Mallam Tukur Mamu saying that the current situation was unfortunate.
He said in an interview with Dr Gumi, he did not admit any wrongdoing to the army as a whole.
