The Department of State Security Services, SSS, has denied the torture and detainment of President Muhammadu Buhari’s late official driver, Sa’idu Afaka.
Recall that the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, announced the death of Mr Afaka on Tuesday, April 6, saying the late driver died due to a prolonged illness.
There were reports that the late driver was arrested by the secret police for getting Buhari to sign off a contract worth over N200 million.
The Public Relations Officer to the SSS, Peter Afunanya, who disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja, said that the reports in some sections of the media regarding the torture to death of the driver were misleading information.
The spokesman confirmed that Mr Afaka was never arrested nor detained by the SSS.
According to him, the handling of suspects is usually in compliance with the tenets of the criminal justice administration system and democracy.
Mr Afunanya, therefore, urged the public to disregard the fake news trending online.
