Over two persons from Andoni Local Government of Rivers State are now residing in Ka community Khana local government as Internally Displaced Persons following unending cult killings in Andoni.
They have sent a save our soul message to the Rivers State government and relevant authorities over untold hardship.
Andoni is the local government area of the current national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Uche Secondus.
The IDPs who were displaced following the recent cult clash in some Andoni communities said that life has been unbearable since the incident of April 21st as they can hardly feed.
Our correspondent who visited Ka community where most of the IDPs are taking refuge reports that over 70% of the IDPs lack shelter with the majority wandering about in the day and taking shelter in shops and abattoirs in Ka market at night.
They appealed to the government to identify with their plight and ensure that peace returns to the troubled communities of Andoni.
Some of the affected persons who spoke with our correspondent said “We want to go home, here in Ka, they’re nowhere to sleep, we sleep outside. We want the government to help us and ensure that peace returns to Andoni. We can’t even go fishing, because we are not at home.
“Some of us can’t find our children and in Ka, we can’t find a place to sleep, we can’t find food to eat. Some of our aged mothers, we carry them, some of us sleep in the packing stores at Ka community. From Ajagaja down to Dema, we are suffering. Let the government help us and restore peace in Andoni so we can return home. We are suffering, please we need peace in Andoni land.
“Most of our people were killed, women, men were killed. We need to bury them. Those of us alive, it is God that spared our lives. In the cause of running that night, some person got drowned in the river, the river is full this time around. In a bid to run away from the shooting that day to Ka, a lot of persons got drowned in the river.
“Oh no! We want the government to come and rescue us out of this predicament, we are dying here in Ka. We fear our children may not participate in the forthcoming primary school exams”
