Clash in Ebonyi community claims 15 lives

At least twenty houses were burnt and fifteen persons killed on Thursday when gunmen invaded Nwakendiagu village in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

More than 20 houses were also burnt during the attack.

Inter-communal clashes in the area have claimed over 100 lives in the past two months with the state government showing a lack political will to end the crisis.

Thursday’s attack, it was gathered began in the early hours of the day, with residents with residents blaming warriors from Effium for the attack.

Crises in the area in January claimed over 100 lives, though the government claimed only 8 persons were killed.

It was linked to two factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW fighting for the control of revenue.

However, it later snowballed into communal clash between the Effium and Ezza people.
