Personnel of the Nigerian Army have raided the shrine of the Eastern Security Network, ESN in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State, killing scores of the hoodlums.

The raid comes two weeks after the hoodlums killed an army couple, Master Warrant Officer, Linus Audu and his about-to-be-wife, Gloria Oguzie, a native of Nkwerre.

Military sources said soldiers stormed the shrine in the early hours of Tuesday, killing no less than 12 of the hoodlums while the chief priest of the shrine fled.

The sources also said that the shrine was destroyed while hunt for other fleeing hoodlums have continued.

A military source who spoke to Standardobservers on the conditions of anonymity said: “Yes, we raided their shrine which they believe gives them power. They engaged our men in a gun duel but twelve of them were neutralised while others fled with several degrees of injuries.

“They were the Eastern Security Network operatives that killed two of our colleagues going for their traditional wedding and soldiers have sworn to make the state hot for them,” he said.
