Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo has called on the Federal Government to try the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu or release him.

Soludo who made the demands at a Peace and Security meeting with Traditional Rulers and Bishops/ Archbishops on the State of Insecurity in Igboland on Saturday said that justice delayed is justice denied.

Governor Soludo also decried the state of insecurity in the South East and the weekly sit-at-home which has impacted negatively on the economic fortunes of the state and the people

He noted that it was time to dialogue with everyone including all the actors engaged in the agitations, stressing that it was time to dialogue with the good, the bad, the ugly.

According to him, since IPOB had issued a press release last year and also on Friday to denounce the weekly sit-at-home, it was no longer in enforcement.

Governor Soludo, therefore advised anyone or group enforcing the order to put an end to it or henceforth be treated as criminals.

He called for the expeditious trial of Nnamdi Kanu, saying justice delayed is justice denied. He appealed to every group to lay down their arms and come out for dialogue.

He promised to provide alternative means of livelihood through training and empowerment and also promised to set up a truth and reconciliation commission that will be given a 6-month period to turn in their report
