God used me to make Amaechi governor - Wike

Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has lambasted the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, describing him as a “total failure.”

The governor made this assertion while speaking at the commissioning of senator John Azuta Mbata House in Port Harcourt, the state capital on Monday.

Wike, who was reacting to comments credited to the former minister over his unhappiness that the state government failed to conduct a state burial for an Elder statesman and former Minister of Aviation, Alabo Graham Douglas,  challenged the Amaechi to show Rivers people what he did for them while serving as a minister.

He said, “Tell Rivers State people as a minister of Transportation what did you do for your people.

“Seven good years, all you were interested in was doing business with CCECC. Standard guage and the other gauge up till now we have not seen anyone from Port Harcourt to Maiduguri.”

The governor alleged that his non-involvement in the burial of late Graham Douglas was because some people had brought politics into it.

“You’re not happy that the state did not give Alabo Graham Douglas a state burial. Why would I do that when I saw that you people have brought politics to the man’s burial?

“This should be the last time that you (Amaechi) will talk about this state because you are a total failure as far as this state is concerned. A total failure. Even what is supposed to come to us, you blocked it but we didn’t bother.

“You think you will not finish as a minister, you have left. I hear he can’t even enter Villa now. All those periods you intimidated police people, and army people are over. You use to tell them, ‘The President is angry with you’. Now, go and tell them,” Wike added.
