Personnel of the Nigerian Army on Wednesday, raided Etekuru community in Ohaji local government area of Imo State, burning at least houses.
The soldiers were on a reprisal, following the killing of one of their colleague by hoodlums in the area. His rifle was also taken by the hoodlums.
A community source said that about an hour after the soldier was killed, another team of soldiers arrived the community in about 15 Hilux trucks, setting houses ablaze.
The source explained further that another soldier and a civilian were killed during the reprisal, bringing the number of deaths to three.
The attack on Etekuru comes barely two weeks after soldiers burnt over 70 houses in Izombe, Oguta local government area of the state following the killing of two soldiers by hoodlums following a disagreement over returns by pipeline vandals.
