Aba Youths protest killing of 14 wedding guests by Ebubeagu

Youths in Aba, the commercial nerve of Abia state on Tuesday took to the streets to protest the killing of Igbo Youths by Ebubeagu Security Network.

Recall that last month, 14 youths returning from a traditional marriage were murdered by Ebubeagu in Awo Mmamma community in Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State.

Governor Hope Uzodimma had said that the killing was carried out by operatives of the Department of State Service, DSS.

He said that contrary to reports that they were wedding guests, the deceased were killed in a raid at a camp in the community.

But a human rights group, Intersociety and families of the groom and bride countered the government, adding that Ebubeagu operatives and not DSS carried out the operation.

Protesting on Tuesday, the youths said that since the inauguration of Ebubeagu by South Eastern Governors, thousands of Igbo youths have be targeted and murdered unjustly.

They called for the regional security outfit to be abolished, saying that if not abolished, it will lead to a crisis of unprecedented level in the region.
